a quiet week, hard at work

This week's inspiration is this art work found on an Ipod application for backgrounds. A sentiment after Grace & Chaos' own heart.
Lots of time and energy is going into our artwork, with copyrights pending. We are working with Canvas On Demand Pro to be able to offer our art work for sale soon! Stay tuned to see how Grace & Chaos is turning urban street graffiti into stylish home decor!

apartment living? tag up your walls!

apartment living can tend to put limitations on your designer style- especially when you think about how you'll have to be the one re-painting everything white once you end up moving out! a great way to be creative and tag up your walls is with vinyl wall decals. the best part of these decals is that they look like graffiti- grace & chaos' founding feature! the below photo shows a custom wall decal. working with single stone studios to alter their "journey graffiti" decal, i added a custom quote (Psalm 42) which speaks volumes.
you can customize any of the decals they have or create your own, and choose from an amazing array of colors!
enjoy tagging up your walls, Grace & Chaos Style!!

a grown up toy box....ahem. storage box.

i am blessed to have memories of building this "toy box" along side my dad, in our garage. My dad is amazing at building furniture and woodworking. This "toy box" survived being painted white with teddy bear and flower stencils (a very proud moment for an 11 year old) to being painted brown with a green upholstered top and left as window seat, to the current revamp you see below. I was struck by the urge to redesign and the need to express my creativity and give this the Grace & Chaos edge!
I took this room's accent color of hot pink and decided to paint this little toy box (now a grown "storage chest"- actually holding pocketbooks and blankets) to make it an eye catching feature instead of an eye sore, catch-all for piling on. I love combining an antique-look with a fabulous, eye popping color. I recovered the top using a black, gray and white damask print upholstery fabric (on sale at JoAnns) and added the antique handles as an accent to the front and side of the box (which, by the way, I found on ebay, already painted a distressed white. I got 10 handles for $10! What a find!). ....Heres another budget secret - HomeDepot and Lowe's can mix tiny pints (really for "testing" colors) of ANY of the paint colors out there. So when you only need a small amount for some furniture, dont go splurging on gallons or resign yourself to using only the spray paint colors offered on the shelf.....take that swatch and have them color it for you right there, for less than $5 a container! So if you have the desire for new furniture, but not the budget, look right in front of your eyes and see what is possible with a coat of paint and some elbow grease!
